A Poetry Reading and a Birthday

Hi, I’m Kerrin Revell, welcome to my journey of thought, which today is about a poetry reading and a birthday.

Last night was the first birthday for the Writers’ Café’ Auckland. They are a very supportive and knowledgeable group.

I had the opportunity to read a couple of my poems out. I read a very silly one called Alpha Bet (which can be found in the Sillyverse) and a serious piece called Screaming Through the Walls. It was an interesting experience as I haven’t shared my serious poetry before. It seemed to go well.

Other people read out examples of their work too and the standard was very high. It wasn’t all poems but short stories and snippets of novels etc too.

My wife, Genna, read one of her serious poems out too. It was my favourite one of hers called Clifftop Edge.

It was a great night and I am looking forward to a second year of Writers’ Café.
