Freedom

Hi, I’m Kerrin Revell, welcome to my journey of thought, which today is about the Family Court child support.

Today is a glorious day and one that has been a long time coming… almost 20 years! I am finally free of the two most oppressive, corrupt, useless and unfair systems I have ever had the displeasure of being involved with. I am, of course, talking about the Family Court and Child Support systems.

For those who believe both systems to be fair and just, I hate to burst your bubble, but sadly they are anything but.

For starters, the Family Court doesn’t rely on evidence, just hearsay and in my experience will not uphold or act on any of its orders/rulings. Unless, of course, you are the custodial parent, which sadly, I was not. Therefore, if you are the custodial parent, you can do as you wish, including making false allegations and alienating children from one of their parents, their siblings and an entire side of their family, which can’t be considered anything but child abuse.

The Child Support system pretends it works on formulas but they can change and make up new assessments anytime they like and routinely did/do. Somehow the cost of a child not living with you is greater than that of one living with you. I am still unsure of how that works.

There are so many other things wrong with both systems but they will have to wait as right now I am celebrating. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I no longer have to worry about whether my Child Support payments will mysteriously increase to amounts I can’t afford or that I will be having to fight both my ex and the courts, just to see and talk with my daughter and losing thousands of dollars in the process.

I feel for those still stuck in those horrible systems.
